On Wednesday May,4, Thursday May 5,, and Saturday May 7, Woodhaven will be hosting the PCAA Jr. Badminton Championships. We are looking for concession volunteers to help with our parents association fundraising. There us a Senior badminton practice for all players after school today. Senior team pictures will be taken next Monday before practice.
Tuesday May 3 there will be a soccer practice and try out for those who were unable to make it to the first try out after school until 4pm in the back field .
Student-teacher hockey game is today!
11:54 - Students that are playing in the game will eat lunch in my classroom the first half of lunch, and then walk over to the arena with me at 12:16
12:38 - All other students will go to their block 5 classes for attendance, and then return to their homeroom classes.
12:50 - Students will walk over to the arena with their homeroom class, one grade level at a time to avoid complete chaos on the way over to the arena (someone will announce when each grade can leave)
1:10 - National anthem and then puck drop.
2:15 - Students will walk back and return to their block 7 class for the reminder of the day.
- Students and teachers will be asked to sit on the bleachers behind the players benches, which is the side with much more seats
-Students will be required to sit with their homeroom class during the game and NOT to be wandering around the arena.
Now, we have not had a student teacher game in over three years. That means most of you, other than grade eight and nine students, have never attended this event. We are excited for you. With the ending of COVID restrictions, we can expect to have more events such as this, including the return of Den Days and year end trips. This is very important in promoting the ‘Pack Pride we hold very near and dear to our hearts.
However, it has been such a long time that some of us may need to be reminded that this is a school event. The expectation is that you will have fun, for sure. But it is important that you remember to cheer, scream, stomp your feet, certainly boo your teachers, but also keep in mind that if we would like to hold future events, we need to follow the directions and rules that staff has set out for us. You will need to sit with your class, there will be no wandering around the rink or leaving the arena.
Keep in mind that this is your behavior test drive for end of the year trips; if you cannot behave walking back and forth, if you cannot follow the directions at the Agrena, or if you decide to slip out without permission, how can your teachers trust you when we jump on a bus for the end of the year trip.
I know I can rely on you to keep yourself and others in check: the strength of the pack is the wolf, the strength of the wolf is the pack. I am looking forward to seeing all of you on your best behavior tomorrow. Go ‘Pack
