The following options courses are available to students in Grade 7 during Term 2 of the 2022-2023 school year. Read through the course descriptions, then use the Grade 7 Option Registration Form to choose the courses you'd like to register for.

Art (Refugia)

In this course, students will play with form and explore more complex art procedures. Using various media, students will discover self-expression through art and learn how to refine their work.

Film Study (Bock & Merkus)

An introduction to various films that depict leaders in a variety of situations. Students will discuss, critique and debate aspects of the films through both oral and written responses). The final project involves research and a presentation using multiple forms of media.

Foods (Schaber)

Students will learn the techniques they need to be a junior cooking expert! This challenge will allow them to explore their inner foodies as they create delicious snacks and desserts. Students will be introduced to a wide variety of ingredients to enhance their palettes.

French 7 (Davis)

Say "bonjour" to having fun while learning French. Daily games and activities will build new language skills. Our class will participate in Manie Musicale with students from all over the world so that we can learn French with the best new francophone music videos that are being released. We will also celebrate several French holidays and explore French Food Fridays, because everyone knows that food is a pretty big deal in France!

Course Fee: $20 (covers the cost of cultural foods/activities)

IA (Huedepohl)

Students will build a birdhouse, as well as other projects (to be determined), and learn the various skills needed to complete these projects.

Spin for Life (Chan)

Students will develop fitness leadership skills through participation in a variety of spin classes. They will learn how different workouts can improve their cardiovascular health in different ways. Some of the workouts the students will be exposed to are interval training, endurance training and strength training. The students will also learn about cycling metrics like power (wattage), heartrate (BPM), speed (km/hr) and cadence (RPM). After developing the necessary skills and knowledge on the bikes, students will gain the confidence to be able to lead others in a bike fitness class.
