Grade 7

The following options courses are available to students in Grade 7 during the first term of the 2021-2022 school year. Read through the course descriptions, then use the Grade 7 Option Registration Form to choose the courses you'd like to register in.

Drama 

In junior high drama, we explore movement, speech, technical theatre and theatre studies. We will do this in a variety of ways, including a small performance at the end of the term.

Foods 7

Students will learn the techniques they need to be a cooking expert! This challenge will allow them to explore their inner foodies as they create delicious recipes for a chosen clientele. Students will be introduced to a wide variety of ingredients to enhance their palette.

French 7 

In this French 7 option, students will learn and practice new language skills with daily games and fun activities. Beginner French learners are welcome!

The diverse music scenes in France and Quebec are some of the best in the world. Come and find out what French songs and music videos students your age are listening to. Music is an excellent way to explore a second language!

We will also celebrate some unique cultural holidays and bring back “French Food Fridays” because everyone knows that food is also a pretty big deal in France!

IA

Students will complete various woodworking, metalworking and electronic projects. Various skills will be needed to complete these projects.

Outdoor Ed  

In Outdoor Ed, students will explore selecting appropriate equipment and gear for various wilderness situations. They will learn how to build a proper fire, be introduced to navigation and learn about the challenges of survival in the outdoors.

Spin for Life

Students will develop fitness leadership skills through participation in a variety of spin classes. They will learn how different workouts can improve their cardiovascular health in different ways. Some of the workouts the students will be exposed to are interval training, endurance training and strength training. The students will also learn about cycling metrics like power (wattage), heartrate (BPM), speed (km/hr) and cadence (RPM). After developing the necessary skills and knowledge on the bikes, students will gain the confidence to be able to lead others in a bike fitness class.
