Kayla Joy
Assistant Principal
Kayla Joy joined the Parkland School Division in 2018, bringing a wealth of experience and a strong educational background. She has taught in the Christian Program at the Grades 5 and 6 level and has taken on multiple leadership roles including Technology Lead, Literacy Lead, and Acting Admin roles. She assumed her most recent position at the beginning of this year as the Inclusive Education & Literacy Lead at Woodhaven Middle School. Prior to joining PSD, Kayla spent three years as a classroom teacher at Mount Pearl Intermediate in the Newfoundland & Labrador English School District, teaching Grades 7-8 English Language Arts and Grade 6 Core.
She began her teaching career after earning a Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature from the University of Waterloo in 2010 and a Bachelor of Education on the Dean's List for Intermediate-Secondary education from Memorial University of Newfoundland in 2011. Kayla also served as the Director of Next Gen Ministries in Newfoundland and Labrador, where she was responsible for programming for children, youth, and young adults, relying on her Bachelor of Theology, Youth Work she earned in 2005.
In 2021, Kayla completed her Master of Education in Leadership Studies at Memorial University of Newfoundland.
