Administrative Announcement - April 15, 2025

April 15, 2025 - Woodhaven Middle School would like to share an exciting update regarding some temporary leadership changes within our school community.

Mr. David Griffin, our Assistant Principal, has been appointed as the Acting Principal at Brookwood School for the remainder of the school year. While we will deeply miss his daily presence, kind smile, and strong commitment to the students, staff, and families at Woodhaven, we are incredibly proud of him as he steps into this new leadership opportunity. Brookwood is fortunate to have him.

In his absence, we are pleased to welcome Mr. Jared Olson as our Acting Assistant Principal here at Woodhaven. Mr. Olson brings valuable experience and a dedication to student learning and well-being. We are confident he will be a great addition to our team.

Please join us in congratulating Mr. Griffin and Mr. Olson on their new roles.

Jared Olson, Acting Assistant Principal
Woodhaven Middle School (Gr. 5-9)

Mr. Olson began his teaching career with temporary assignments at High Park School and Graminia School, before accepting a continuing teaching position at Duffield School in 2011. Over seven years at Duffield, Jared honed his skills in teaching Science and Physical Education for Grades 6 through 9, developed authentic cross-curricular projects, and took on leadership roles including Athletic Director and West Zone Representative for the WCJHAA. He also coached several school teams, with his Senior Girls Volleyball team capturing the school’s first Premier Division banner in 2017.

In 2018, Jared joined the Copperhaven School community. As a member of the founding staff, he helped shape school culture and played a vital role in supporting staff and students during the launch of a brand-new school. He has been a Numeracy Lead and PD Planning Team member and Acting Admin at Copperhaven before joining the team at Woodhaven as the Inclusive Education Lead and Instructional Lead at the start of the 2024-2025 school year.

Jared’s post-secondary education includes a two-year Secondary Education Degree from Red Deer College followed by a Bachelor of Secondary Education degree with a major in Biological Sciences and a
minor in Physical Education from the University of Alberta in 2008.

"I am incredibly excited to expand my role and continue growing as a leader within Parkland School Division. I look forward to supporting Woodhaven staff, students, and families in creating a welcoming and inclusive environment where learning thrives."
