THis morning’s song is the Cherokee morning song in honour of Indigenous Veterans Day.  The First Nations, Inuit and Métis of Canada have a long and proud tradition of military service to our country. These determined volunteers were often forced to overcome many challenges to serve in uniform, from learning a new language and adapting to cultural differences, to having to travel great distances from their remote communities just to enlist. The First World War raged from 1914 to 1918 and more than 4,000 Indigenous people served in uniform during the conflict. When the Second World War erupted in September 1939, many Indigenous people again answered the call of duty and over 3,000 Indigenous people joined the military.

Congratulations to our Junior A girls volleyball team for a wonderful game last night. Our girls battled so hard, but came up just short in a heartbreaking loss in the 5th set to Prescott. What an amazing season from this group of girls!

Fall Ball starts today after school! All grade 5-6’s that signed up to play should come to the large gym right after school so we can set-up and start playing! All of the grade 8-9 coaches for Fall Ball have a meeting with Mr. McLachlan in the large gym at morning break today!

Movember fact of the day: Mustaches are capable of absorbing 20 percent of their own weight in liquid, which makes them very handy in the event of spillage. Which staff member’s mustache would hold the most weight?

Todays’ morning recess will be INDOORS. A decision about lunch recess will be made later this morning.
