Good luck to our senior boys and girls volleyball teams as they start the Prescott tournament today after school. Both the senior teams play a few games tonight and a few more tomorrow in the tournament.
The X-Country team had fantastic results at yesterday’s race at Grouse Nest Golf Course. Congrats to the whole team, your hardwork and success earned the Wolfpack team 212 points, which is possibly the highest number of points ever earned by a school on a single race day!
X-Country, there is no team practice Monday morning as it is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Your coaches encourage you to still enjoy a practice run on your own, and while training, take a moment to recognize and acknowledge that you are running on Treaty No. 6 territory, which is traditional and ancestral land. Our next team practice will be next Wednesday at 7:30am.
Jr A Girls Volleyball team please see Mrs. Saunders in the plaza at lunch for a schedule for the Greystone Tournament next week.
Practice on Tuesday, League game hosting Wednesday, Greystone Tournament Thursday and Saturday.
The Junior A Boys practice has been moved from Monday to Tuesday, so don’t forget to bring your gear on Tuesday boys.
If you have any Drama Club Permission Forms to hand in, please do so to Mrs. MC’s room at morning recess. This is a reminder that Drama Club will begin on Tuesday next week and run from 3:10 to 4:30 PM.
Today, we take pause to recognize National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, which officially takes place on September 30th. This important day is dedicated to honouring the memory of the Indigenous children who were taken from their families and placed in residential schools. It is a time for us to reflect on the painful history and ongoing impacts of these schools on Indigenous communities.
By observing this day, we acknowledge the truth of these experiences and commit to learning more about the past. It is an opportunity for all of us to listen, understand, and support efforts towards healing and reconciliation.
After announcements, our entire school community will take time to learn about the truth of residential schools and reflect on how we can contribute to building a respectful and inclusive future in Canada and at Woodhaven. After your learning, each staff and student will tie an orange ribbon to the east fence parallel to King Street to show the Spruce Grove community Woodhaven’s commitment to truth and reconciliation.
Thank you for taking this time to honour this important day. Let’s work together to foster understanding and respect within our school community.
