Lots of basketball games last night. Woodhaven teams went 4-2 overall.

Happy Birthday to Haylin in 5C from Neveah and Myan.

No school tomorrow and Monday.

Junior A boys and girls both defeated Prescott in league play. Our Jr B boys lost 2 close games to Greystone, and our Jr B girls defeated Greystone in both games as well.

Basketball practices today after school are the Jr A Boys and the Jr A girls.

Good luck to our senior boys and girls as they host STA for some league games. Girls play first, boys second.

PE Skating - Skating is coming back to PE class! Next week the PE classes will be walking over to Stu Barnes arena for skating during some blocks. All Woodhaven students are asked to start hunting down some skates and a CSA Approved hockey helmet.

Attention Grade 8/9 Industrial Arts students. Please meet in the DLR room today.

Last night the Canadian Women’s Hockey team did us proud avenging their loss four years ago Korea, defeating the U.S. 3-2.

In recognition of our Gold Medal Champion women's hockey team and to honour all of our Olymipians, and paralympians, today is Canada Red, Maple Leaf Day.  If you are wearing red, wearing a maple leaf, or have clothing with Canada on it, you will receive and need to fill out your pack pride slip which can be entered in the office at the end of the day for the weekly draw.

A reminder to all students who received a Pack Pride slip this week, please place it into your grade level box in the office by the end of the day.  Winners will be announced on Tuesday after the long weekend!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MRS. JOY!!!

Black History Month - Black History of Alberta

Gwendolyn Hooks was born in Keystone (now Breton) to an Oklahoma dad and a Kansas mother. Her parents arrived as one of 52 farming families escaping Jim Crow laws and lynching in the southern United States. After attending schools from elementary to college in various Alberta rural districts, Gwen Hooks began her teaching career in the early 1940s. She describes many instances of racism in schools, and restrictions she faced in employment during her teaching career. But, determined to be a role model, Gwen became the principal of a special education school for a decade, president of her Alberta Teachers’ Association local chapter, and president of the Breton and District Historical Society.
